Ancient Wisdom in Clay

Artist Statement

At a very early age, I became fascinated with Egypt, beginning a life-long passion for the study of Egyptology. At an equally tender age, I began dragging in clumps of mud from the natural clay deposits in the fields outside my parents’ home, to make objects I would then try to bake in my Mom’s oven... Being born into a family of artists had its advantages: some ceramics classes and apprenticeships later, I became a full time ceramicist.

One life. Two great passions. Melded together. I use clay, neon, poetry and precious metallic lusters to share my deep love of Ancient Egypt and the wisdom and beauty she holds.

Ancient Wisdom in Clay is the culmination of over 45 years of attempting to master the ever challenging art of ceramics, combined with the study of Egyptian art and civilization.

I humbly believe that any artistic talent is a gift from the Gods, and that it is one’s duty to give back what one has learned and attained.
